Potty Training Your Puppy

Potty training your puppy is an essential step toward a harmonious life together. Here are some tips and tricks for beginners:

Tip #1 - Establish a Routine

  • Take your puppy outside at regular intervals, such as after meals and upon waking up.

  • Choose a specific outdoor spot for potty breaks and consistently take your puppy there.

Tip #2 - Use a Crate

  • Crates are valuable tools for potty training.

  • Ensure the crate is the right size—large enough for your puppy to lie down, stand up, and turn around.

  • Dogs dislike soiling their living space, so they’ll try to hold it while in the crate.

  • When your puppy signals the need to go (whining or scratching), take them out promptly.

Tip #3 - Positive Reinforcement

  • Reward successful potty visits outdoors with treats and praise.

  • Consider using a bell on the door to signal potty time.

Tip #4 - Watch for Signals

  • Learn your puppy’s cues (sniffing, circling) that indicate they need to go.

  • Be consistent in taking them out to the designated spot.

Remember, patience and consistency are key! 🐾 🏠
